Are You Immune to Novocaine or Laughing Gas?

Did You Know? Redheads are more likely to be immune to anesthesia. It has science stumped!

Redheads have the highest incidence of immunity to novocaine and lidocaine. Some people don’t respond to laughing gas, commonly known as nitrous oxide, either. The sad truth is, many people avoid professional dental care today because of painful dental appointments in the past.

I’m Dr. James DeFinnis, a sedation dentist at Back Mountain Dental in Trucksville, Pennsylvania. No one – No One – should be in pain during a dental visit. Once a bad experience occurs, it’s completely understandable to be scared of the dentist. I want to let you know, you can get the dental care you need while remaining comfortable and relaxed.

IV sedation dentistry works well for many patients who do not respond to traditional anesthesia, like novocaine or laughing gas. My licensed nurse anesthetist will deliver the sedative into your blood stream, then monitor your comfort and responsiveness throughout your dental visit. While she takes care of your comfort, I’ll attend to your dental procedures with the utmost gentleness.

Most of my patients remember little, if any, of their dental visit once their sedation wears off. They simply wake up with a healthier, more attractive smile and a renewed sense of self-confidence.

If you have had bad dental experiences, it’s time to talk with an experienced sedation dentist. I invite you to schedule a call or consultation with me by calling 570-763-4360. Back Mountain Dental serves patients from Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, and surrounding communities. It’s time you had a reason to smile!
